Renewable Energy – Sri Lanka Country Report

unescap_logoGSA was entrusted with the task of compiling the Renewable Energy – Sri Lanka Country Report by Asian and Pacific Centre for Transfer of Technology (APCTT) of United Nations – Economic & Social Commission for Asia & the Pacific (UN-ESCAP). Task was successfully completed in June 2009.

Eng. Gamini Senanayake, Chairman & Managing Director of GSA is expected to present this report at the Expert Group Meeting on Supporting the Development of an Institutional Cooperation Mechanism to Promote Renewable Energy in Asia and the Pacific to be held in Bangkok on 20-21st July 2009.

This report provides an overview of the Renewable Energy (RE) sector of Sri Lanka as per the need of Asian and Pacific Centre for Transfer of Technology (APCTT) to formulate a regional project for the development and promotion of Renewable Energy Technologies (RETs) through the sharing of member country experiences and collaborative projects.

Through this project, APCTT intends to develop an institutional cooperation mechanism to strengthen the capacity of countries in the Asia Pacific region to promote the adoption and utilization of RETs to meet their energy needs and foster sustainable development.
